Tara Shoemaker is a Rhode Island artist creating contemporary landscape paintings that move between recognition and abstraction. She uses interpretive color, layered marks, and mixed media to push familiar places beyond literal description while holding onto the light, weather, and atmosphere that make her stop and look. She is interested in landscapes that feel heightened and alive: places that suggest there is more than meets the eye.
